Defining the Target Audience

Your target audience are people you want to sell your product or service to, your marketing target, your potential customer.

When developing your web site you should determine why people should by your product or service, then focus the development of your web site to emphasise these elements, what is the most important factor influencing your potential customers?

You will need to consider all the target markets when developing your web site, making sure that each of the needs of your potential customers are met. Your primary target may be new customers, but you should also consider existing customers, the media, and others who may influence the purchase of your products or services. Your site should also be friendly towards associate or affiliate organisations.

Using Technology

when starting ut to consider your site, consider the technology available to your audience, for example if your site has streaming multimedia presentations you are likely to aim your site at clients that are technologically inclined, have a fast connection, use the latest browser software, and faster computers.

If marketing low technology products or services consider the clientele that may also be less technically able, this will enable you to create simple navigation elements, low bandwidth, and run on slower machines with older browser software, expanding target area. This does not exclude the higher technologically able clients, but includes the less technologically able.
