Validating Page Accessibility

There is legislation in many countries (including the UK and USA) which makes it an offence to discriminate against people with disabilities. This legislation includes the use of internet pages. The World Wide Web Consortium has produced 3 levels of accessibility that web sites may tested against. Each level has a list of criteria that must be met in order to meet the accreditation levels.

Accesibility Single A ratingLevel A - The lowest set by the World Wide Web consortium. Meeting the criteria set by this checkpoint is a basic requirement for some groups to be able to use Web documents. A Web content developer must satisfy this checkpoint otherwise, one or more groups will find it impossible to access information in the document.

Accesibility Double A ratingLevel AA - Satisfying this level will remove significant barriers to accessing Web documents. Web content developers should satisfy this checkpoint otherwise, one or more groups will find it difficult to access information in the document. .

Accessibility Triple A ratingLevel AAA - This is the highest level set by the World Wide Web consortium. Meeting the criteria at this level will improve access to Web documents. Web content developers may address this checkpoint. Otherwise, one or more groups will find it somewhat difficult to access information in the document.
