Developing a web site need not be expensive. By taking a professional approach we aim to provide a reliable service at a reasonable cost.
When setting out on a design you should set out your goals for the site, there are a number of objectives you should consider. The web designer should discuss your objectives with you.
Objectives
You may wish to consider the following when considering your objectives:
Primary Objectives
- What do you want your web site to accomplish?
- Whom are you trying to appeal to?
- Do you want to sell direct to your customers?
- Do you want to provide information and/or updates to your customers?
- Do you want to provide customer support and service?
Secondary Objectives
- The site should be search engine friendly
- The site should meet the W3C accessibility requirements
- You want potential and existing customers to come back to the site regularly
- Encourage viral marketing
- Create an email mailing list from visitors
Design Process
When undertaking any design we use a Modified Waterfall Model for the design of your site. At all stages of the process we consult you to ensure that the site is constructed to meet your requirements.
- Detailed analysis of requirements to determine the objectives and requirements of the site. At this stage the nature of the problem and the requirements are defined, a specification is produced.
- Create a design and produce a prototype of the site with content and interactivity as defined in the requirements specification.
- Implement a full site design once any problems with the prototype design have been ironed out. At this stage perform individual unit testing, and optimisation of each unit within the site. Also at this stage implement functionality for the promotion each part of the site.
- Integrate each of units within the site to create the complete site and perform testing. The web site is then published and registered with the appropriate search engines.
- The final step is to release the site. Although the site is now complete and functioning it is still important to provide maintenance for the site. This keeps the site current, changing and encourages repeat visits from all your client group.
